Horses, Flowers, Frogs and the Land of Nod !

~~~~
Did you know that there really is a Land of Nod ? I thought it was a fictional name . . . but my good friend Deborah Burnham actually lives in the Land of Nod. You can visit Deb's Blog here . It certainly lives up to the fantasy. My two children and I visited Deb yesterday and were treated to a lovely afternoon with horses, flowers and wildlife. What a beautiful place to live!
Deb's two horses Slim and Clancy were quick to sense company and ran over to greet us :-)
I must say these two horse were very patient with us
(dropping the treats!!!)
Pulling away just when Slim thought he was about to receive a yummy mint.
The look on their faces said . . . Hey Mom . . . please show these Newbies how to hold a treat.
So Mom stepped forward and showed us how to hold our hands flat and let the horses nibble away until the treat is found.
OK . . . . much better . . . nodded Slim and Clancy.
Maybe a Dandelion would be interesting . . . .
Then we got really brave . . . . inside the fence and everything !
Big smiles all around :-)
A little fresh hay (Hmmm . . . . I think Clancy likes the mints better)
Then on to the River we went . . . . in search of frogs and butterflies.
My son found the frogs . . . but guess who had to catch them ?
Super Sister !!!! Over here . . . over there !!!! go, go, go!
It was an absolutely wonderful day ! I also picked up the gift that I commissioned Deb to make for my Mom's 65th Birthday. I will post pictures of that later (I don't want mom to see her present early). Thanks again for a wonderful visit Deb !!!!
I am going to Nova Scotia !
~~~~
I am going to Nova Scotia (Eastern Canada) this Friday July 25th to visit my Mom on her 65th Birthday. I will be staying until next Thursday July 31st. My husband only gets one week of vacation time this summer so I am flying out East with the help of hubby's air miles (isn't he sweet!). It is too far to drive (2 day trip each way) for a 5 day visit. My daughter has a babysitting job next week, my son will be in Sports Camp with a friend, hubby will be at work and the poor dog will be in the kennel (sorry Cider). We will all have a week off together the first week of August.

My Mom and her husband retired in Nova Scotia approximately 10 years ago. They live on a lovely point with a spectacular view of a salt marsh and the ocean off in the distance. What a lovely picture for a birthday invitation.

It is beautiful all year round.
Wouldn't it be nice to have this view from your deck!

This is their house from the back.
Lovely large windows to enjoy the view.

The home is an 1800s farm house that took several years to restore.

The wrought iron gate is new this year.

There are so many talented Artisans in Nova Scotia.

I just love the iron seagulls! It is fun to watch the cats stalk them.

This is Ben, one of my Mom's cats. Not too much hunting in this picture LOL

I am looking forward to my visit with my mom ~ Ontario and Nova Scotia are quite far apart so we only get to see each other once or twice a year.

We will do lots of antique hunting and walks along the beach. Sounds pretty good I think!

This is my 96th post !!! I will buy something wonderful from Nova Scotia
for my 100th Post Giveaway, when I get back :-)

The Dark Knight and a Full Moon

~~~~
(Post is not a plot spoiler) July 18th was the opening day for the new Batman Movie ~ The Dark Knight. I bought my two tickets on July 17th . We were going to go to the 12:01am showing (less line-up perhaps), but it is a 3 hour movie and hubby still needs to go to work on Friday.
We decided to go to the 10:30pm showing instead. All day Friday the weather channel was calling for rain, hail and a severe weather watch locally. I thought that was rather fitting actually. The weather was matching the title of the movie. Did we stay home? . . . . Not a chance ! For those of you that read my posts regularly, you know that the wind is a frequent flyer at my house. Luckily the weather just turned into a soft fog with a bright full moon and some haunting shadows. Did you notice the one lone star off to the right? I did. I snapped a few pictures from my front door when we got home and thought about a star that was diminished far too soon.
The movie does live up to all the hype and Heath Ledger's performance is absolutely Oscar worthy. You left us too soon Heath. Wish you were still here.
My blogging friend Mya, participated in the "Sunday Scribblings" assignment this week. I have learned that it is all about Ghosts this week. I actually wrote this post before I knew about the Sunday Scribblings. Since my post is a little "spooky" ~ I have added my link to the list of Ghost Stories. Happy reading. Lots of interesting stories to view ~ the Ghostly links are found on assignment #120 here
Friday Flea Market ~ Vintage Cookie Tins
~~~~
Welcome to Friday Flea Market. This week my theme will focus on vintage and antique cookie tins. I do love them and have far too many LOL. Quite a few people seemed interested in the cookie tin that made it into the homemade fudge post a few weekends ago. I thought I would list a few vintage tins in my Etsy shop to see how they do. It does give me an excuse to buy more if they find new homes :)

SOLD ~ an antique cookie or biscuit tin with Victorian scenes. It is 4.5 inches in diameter and 7.5 inches tall. It has a procelain knob at the top and gold trim along the sides. It does show signs of age, but is still very pretty.

The vintage tin (10 x 6 x 3 inches) with the raised floral detail is from Holland.
Love those florals !

SOLD ~ 8 inch tin is also from Holland ~ Bright Vibrant colors with a Mosaic design
(and perhaps a few fudge crums)

SOLD ~ smaller tin (5.5 by 2 inch) is marked Made in France ~ Pretty florals Regal colors

Thank you for dropping by. Please visit our hostess Polly and the other vendors by clicking the Friday Flea Market link on my blog roll. Have a great weekend !!!!

Summer Fun

~~~
Cannon Ball !!!!!
I guess you have to be more than 75 pounds to make a monster splash LOL
My Aunt Brenda, my cousin Sarah and her son came to visit us for a couple of days.
It wasn't hard to convince Corson to go for a swim.
He is thrilled to keep up with my two "big kids".
Willy was a favorite friend for the day.
Strawberry Trifle is too good to wait for . . .
and you have to be really quick if you want any fudge !
Thank you Brendie for bringing such amazing treats :-)
We'll try and save some for Daddy.
